VIRTUAL EVENT: Flipping the Narrative - More Effective Donor Storytelling

Admission

  • $20.00  -  Member
  • $40.00  -  Non-member

Description

Isn't it odd that the words we often use when seeking support and resources for our communities paint a not-so-flattering image of those we serve? All too often, we use words like "underprivileged," "vulnerable," or "disadvantaged" without an awareness of their stigmatizing effects. What if instead, we started every conversation and story by defining people's strengths and contributions rather than challenges and deficits? In this interactive dialogue, we will examine how as fundraisers we use language, shifting from deficit language to empowerment. It will be a space for learning and experience, and through icebreakers and activities, you'll bring back some valuable tools to your organization. Hopefully, you'll leave with a few new perspectives in your humanity toolkit too!

Please join us from 11:45 AM to 12 noon for networking and a chance to break the ice with DER Board Members, DER members, and all welcome attendees!
