You've identified, researched and cultivated the donors, now it's time to ASK! This interactive workshop offers the opportunity to learn best practices, watch experienced fundraisers demonstrate asking, and role-play various scenarios. You'll learn about strategizing the ask, effective responses to donor resistance, and key elements of a successful solicitation. We encourage you to bring a board member and/or colleague from your organization who is also involved in major gifts.

Outcomes:

1. Understand asking best practices

2. Discern key differences between staff and board asks

3. Increased confidence via demonstration and role-playing

4. Gain effective responses to donor resistance

 

Registration for this event is REQUIRED.

This event will take place at LightHouse for the Blind, 1155 Market Street, 10th Floor, San Francisco, CA.

$40 for non-DER members and $25 for DER members.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Lisa Hoffman is a nonprofit consultant and coach, experienced in fund development; facilitation; training; board/staff development.  Specializing in individual giving, Lisa’s approach is pragmatic and creative, helping nonprofits build their strengths to raise more money.  Her experience with nonprofits is extensive as a professional, board member and volunteer.

 

Dharna Obermaier is a fundraising professional, focusing on women’s human rights, educational and humanitarian causes and over 14 years of experience. Currently Director of Development at CARE USA, Western Region, she manages a major gift portfolio. Dharna’s passion is strengthening relationships with donors and connecting them to causes they care about.
